I am selling 2 Royal Winton Grimwades plates- with gold trim. In the center is a light yellow surrounded by a floral pattern with black under color. The measurements are 8 1/2″ X 8 1/2″. There are no chips and just some glazing from age. These plates are from the 30’s and are Made in England.

Watch for chintz patterns for which Royal Winton is famous. These are tight flower designs, sometimes hand painted and sometimes decals, covering the outside of the piece. This is an all-over-pattern, but Royal Winton was not the only company making chintz pottery in England. Some companies stamped the bottom with the name of the pattern and “Made in England.
Also watch for new chintz patterns produced by Royal Winton with a new mark to distinguish the new from old. Old chintz production was from through the s. New chintz production started in , and should incorporate a date.

My temptation would be to try them as a set first just in case. It would be easier to ship one package rather than four if nothing else. On the other hand, I’ve actually had some luck selling individual plates of English china and especially chintz. For me they sell to US bidders. I’ve never sent one back to England.

The bowl has no chips or stainsand minorcrazing commensurate with age. There are 2 hairline cracks measuring 1″ each from the rim. There is minimal, if any,wear to the gilt rim, as can be seen in the photos. Purchase more than one item to receive a discount!!
